Pittsburgh PA: Purple Rain – A Birthday Party for the Purple One
Let’s go crazy in honor of the artist formerly known as Prince! Party like it’s 1999 on what would have been the Purple One’s 61st birthday at The Rangos Giant Cinema with purple cake, party favors, and, of course, a showing of Purple Rain on Pittsburgh’s largest screen.
Singer, songwriter, fashion icon, and guitar virtuoso, Prince revolutionized music with his indelible and flamboyant style. In Purple Rain, his electrifying talents are brilliantly captured through Prince’s quasi-biographical character, the Kid.
The Kid is a Minneapolis musician on the rise with his band, The Revolution, struggling to escape a tumultuous home life through music. While trying to avoid making the same mistakes as his truculent father (Clarence Williams III), the Kid navigates the club scene and a rocky relationship with a captivating singer, Apollonia (Apollonia Kotero). But another musician, Morris (Morris Day), looks to steal the Kid’s spotlight — and his girl.
Soundtrack favorites like, “Take Me With U,” “The Beautiful Ones,” and “Baby I’m a Star,” will sound more powerful than ever through our 45 top-notch speakers. Plus, Prince on a GIANT screen? If any artist’s performance is worthy of Pittsburgh’s largest screen, it’s him.
Please note: Cake and party favors available while quantities last.
